Keeping it inside the Sage 300 tent

It can be tempting to think the answers to our problems are to be found "out there somewhere", but there can be good reasons for staying close to home.

While Orchid’s modules cover a broad spectrum of business functions and features, a recurring theme is that they allow data and business logic to be kept “inside the tent” of Sage 300.

This has a range of benefits for customers:

  • It supports collaboration, by allowing users to access and share data where they need it, when they need it, without having to leave Sage 300. (E.g. Notes, Document Management Link, Info-Explorer.)
  • It improves efficiency by allowing tasks that would normally require duplicate data entry to be automated within Sage 300 (e.g. Inter-Entity, Report Runner, Process Scheduler, EFT Processing, SmartFreight Link)
  • It reduces risk, by having key data and logic stored within the Sage 300 database, where it is included in regular backups and is available for “dump & load”. (E.g. Notes, Optional Tables, Extender)
  • It simplifies operations, and helps avoid the need for acquiring specialised software to support functions that don’t form part of the Sage 300 core. (E.g. Bin Tracking, RMA, EFT Processing, Extender, Optional Tables).

This is further enhanced by the fact that all Orchid modules are developed using the Sage 300 Software Development Kit (SDK). This gives them the familiar look and feel of other Sage 300 modules, making them easy to use and reducing time needed for training.

Solution providers have told us that many of their clients would have long since outgrown Sage 300, but have managed to extend its life by years thanks to Orchid’s Sage 300 add-ons, substantially improving their return on investment.
